Beyond the Sacred PageMany of you have been encouraged greatly by this book and may be pleased to learn that Edward has put the printing and distribution of it into my hands. I am truly honored by this. My concern is that it be widely distributed. Can we believe that God is as alive, powerful, and near to us today as He was in Biblical times? This book is Edward’s courageous witness of ways God wondrously directs those who seek His personal guidance – "beyond the sacred page." "Although I was reared in a Christian home," Edward writes, "my church taught that God does not operate ‘separate and apart from the Word.’ And since we generally believed that we had correctly deciphered and interpreted the Bible, God’s guidance meant little more to me than following ‘true doctrine’ and teaching it to everyone else. Yet all the time, I secretly longed for more – and so did many others I knew. But the living God was full of surprises! And, although he would never act contrary to his word revealed in Scripture, he was determined to show me that he is not bound between the covers of a book – not even the Holy Bible. This is my testimony to some of those encounters with the living God these past 50 years." Edward’s life story is told in a manner in which you can closely identify with him. It is the type of book that is hard to lay down after you begin to read it. If you have not been too aware of God’s working in you life, you may be a bit reluctant to go as far as Edward leads. But that makes the book more valuable. If you read only what you already believe and agree with, why bother to read? If a writer writes only what you agree with, why bother to write? I am eager for you to read the book and for you to give it to others as a most appropriate gift. It would make a good base for class discussion. It will strengthen faith. I am now having the third printing done. It is 182 pages. The cost: $9.00 plus $1.50 for mailing. Ten or more @ $8.00 each postpaid. (All book orders over $25.00 postpaid. [] |
