Hook's PointsVic Phares has sent a "Traffic Report" for Freedom’s Ring for January. Our web site was visited by 4835 people from 59 different countries!! Some of the specific "hits" were: Homepage, 2235; Newsletter Index, 581; Books Index , 421; Edward Fudge Collection Index, 374; Links, 300; What’s New, 241; Search, 201; Message Board, 123; I Permit Not A Woman Index, 121; Grace of God Index, 109; Free In Christ Index, 108; I Permit Not… Ch. 1 , 102. While this gives us some idea of the traffic, it does not reveal how much each visitor read or downloaded. My gratitude for Vic deepens as I realize how he has broadened the scope of this ministry. Vic has been working for Poulan-Weedeater, but the unsettling news is that the Shreveport facility will be closing in August. Do you know anyone needing a good PC Tech man? Your prayers may help. [Since Cecil wrote this God has blessed me with a job at Noram Energy Corp. in Shreveport beginning April 13. Vic] I don’t want to seem aloof or uncaring, but let me explain again that I cannot possibly read all the materials being sent to me. Due to advancing age and my having to do all of our cooking and much of the household operation, I am becoming more limited all along. Although I appreciate and read each personal letter, I cannot read all the material being sent to me by e-mail. My computer chokes up on some attachments, garbles others, and ignores still others! So that is not the way to communicate with me. Besides, if it is long enough to require sending as attached mail, I probably won’t have time to read it. Could this bit from the internet fit me: "God put me on earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now, I am so far behind I will never die!"? A partner in this ministry has gone to be with the Lord after an earthly walk with him of 93 years. Dr. Norman Parks, of Murfreesboro, TN has encouraged and helped this work with significant donations to our fund. He has been a university professor and editorial writer for the Nashville Tennesseean, as well as a writer on Biblical subjects like the roles of women and elders. Some of his liberating writings can be accessed at our web site. If every person in the Churches of Christ were living in either Delhi, Calcutta, Teheran, Cairo, Lagos, Moscow, Shanghai, Beijing, Buenos Aires, Manila, or Jakarta, we would hardly be 20% of the population of either city! What a staggering challenge to reach the population of our earth with the Gospel! A few isolated missionary families using traditional methods can hardly make a mark. The most comprehensive uses of mass media available in our age of communication must be utilized along with as much personal contact as possible. And to be really effective, the various Christian bodies must unite in proclaiming Christ and his gospel message. Are we ready for that? A new partner in this ministry is Ken Beaty of Tulsa. In his business he travels extensively around the world. I have sent him 100 copies of Free In Christ to be passed along as he visits congregations in other countries. A brother in the Christian Church in Joplin, Missouri, Ray Downen, has been sent 100 copies of Free In Christ to distribute at the Missouri Christian Convention, and he will have another 100 at his booth (#1013) at the Tulsa Workshop. An assortment of 27 books has been sent to a preaching brother in Malaysia. He has distributed a number of books before. Books are impersonal, but they carry the message much cheaper than missionaries. [] |
